Bifold doors have multiple door panels that are attached together with side hinges and fold open across a sliding track.

BIFOLD DOORS

Bifold Door Configurations

Each pane of a bifold door should be equal in size measuring between 700mm-1200mm wide each (including frame). Some configurations will allow for a 'traffic door' which is a pane that independently opens like a standard side hinged side door for ease of access without the need to slide multiple panels.

It is generally desirable to have the largest possible panels to fill the opening as this reduces frame, maximises glass coverage and is often lower cost due to fewer panes. However, when deciding on configuration you should also consider requirement for a traffic door and space available for door to fold out into as well as symmetry with other windows. Sometime it is advantageous to add an additional pane.
